American Business Women's Day

The first American Business Women's Day (ABWday) was celebrated in 1982. It is a national day for Americans to recognize the achievements of not only ABWA members but also the millions of employed women in the U.S. It is observed on September 22, the anniversary of ABWA's founding.

In 1983 and 1986, joint congressional resolutions were passed designating a national observance of September 22nd as American Business Women's Day. Following each resolution, President Ronald Regan issued a Presidential proclamation.

In 2005 Reno-Tahoe Express Network and the Washoe Zephyrs Chapter of the local Reno area held their inaugural ABWday event.

This year's luncheon will be September 22, 2010. The luncheon will be at the Atlantis Resort Casino and the Keynote Speaker is Carol Scofield. She is President of Scofield & Associates and is a internationally renowned coach and corporate motivational speaker. Carol combines her 23 year management background in healthcare with an award winning radio talk show career. A seasoned story teller, Carol will give you the tools to make good decisions, take back control and enjoy your journey. She knows the art of "edu-taining!"

Tickets are $35 each or a table for $230. Door open at 11:00am. We will end at 1:00pm. Corporate sponsorships are welcomed. The two ABWA Chapters in the Reno area provide six (6) scholarships and grants to women pursuing their undergraduate and graduate degrees. We also support their ongoing professional development in order to assist with career advancement and as role models, mentors and leaders for the future.
